Theodore Robert Cowell, mais conhecido pela alcunha de "Ted" Bundy , foi um dos mais temíveis assassinos em série da história dos Estados Unidos da América durante a década de 1970. Ele iniciou a sua carreira criminosa assassinando e estuprando as suas vítimas.

Era um homem charmoso, comunicativo, de conversa e palavras convincentes, que lhe ajudariam a seduzir e eliminar mulheres em uma matança desenfreada. Foi preso e conseguiu fugir, dando continuidade a seus crimes na mesma noite em que escapara. Em 15 de janeiro de 1978, ele partiu em uma noite de chacina e matou duas meninas e feriu três outras ao redor do Chi Omega, uma casa de repúblca de mulheres em Tallahassee.

Ted Bundy foi levado a julgamento e condenado à pena de morte por eletrocução. O júri demorou apenas quinze minutos deliberando sobre o veredicto. Executado em 24 de janeiro de 1989, Bundy ainda foi alvo de uma ironia no dia de sua morte: foi uma mulher quem ligou a chave da cadeira elétrica que pôs fim à sua vida.
