Rajneesh Chandra Mohan Jain , foi líder religioso de uma seita de tradições dármicas, mestre na arte da meditação e do despertar da consciência. Apesar de sua formação e docência acadêmica em filosofia, além de ter sido campeão em debates, ele não se considerava um filósofo, mas sim um místico, pois seu principal propósito era o desenvolvimento da consciência, o autoconhecimento, através da meditação. Durante a década de 1970, foi conhecido pelo nome de Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh e, mais tarde, como Osho.
Foi durante toda a sua vida uma figura extremamente polêmica, em boa parte, porque ele próprio raramente procurava apaziguar ou evitar conflitos. Nunca foi um moralista, enfatizando sempre a consciência individual e a responsabilidade de cada um por si mesmo.
