Jean Baptiste Say foi um economista francês, formulador da chamada a Lei de Say. Nasceu em uma família de mercadores de tecidos, fortemente influenciada pelas ideias iluministas.

Após a Revolução Francesa chegou a exercer a ocupação de jornalista em periódicos liberais franceses, onde aproximou-se das ideias de Adam Smith e do estudo da ciência econômica, à qual passou a se dedicar, ao mesmo tempo em que administrava uma indústria têxtil. Wikipedia
