Edwin Howard Armstrong foi um engenheiro eletricista estadunidense. Inventou o processo de transmissão de sinais de rádio por frequência modulada rádio FM. Edwin Howard Armstrong nasceu na cidade de Nova Iorque em 1890. Estudou na Universidade Columbia onde também se tornou professor. Inventou o circuito regenerativo patenteado em 1914, o circuito super regenerativo em 1922 e o receptor super heteródino em 1918.

Suicidou-se pulando da janela de seu apartamento no décimo terceiro andar. Wikipedia
