Paul Klee foi um pintor e poeta suíço naturalizado alemão. O seu estilo, grandemente individual, foi influenciado por várias tendências artísticas diferentes, incluindo o expressionismo, cubismo, e surrealismo. Ele foi um estudante do orientalismo. Klee era um desenhista nato que realizou experimentos e dominou a teoria das cores, sobre o quê ele escreveu extensivamente.
