Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden Jr. PmF foi o 47º vice-presidente dos Estados Unidos, eleito junto com o Presidente Barack Obama em 2008. Ele é um membro do Partido Democrata e serviu como Senador dos Estados Unidos por Delaware de 3 de janeiro de 1973 até renunciar em 15 de janeiro de 2009 para assumir a vice-presidência.

Biden nasceu em Scranton, Pensilvânia, vivendo lá por dez anos antes de se mudar para Delaware. Ele tornou-se procurador em 1969, e foi eleito para o conselho do Condado de New Castle no ano seguinte. Em 1972, Biden foi eleito para o senado e tornou-se o sexto senador mais jovem da história do país. Ele foi reeleito seis vezes, sendo o quarto senador mais velho quando renunciou em 2009, e o décimo quinto em termos de tempo acupando o cargo. Biden tentou sem sucesso tornar-se o candidato Democrata à presidência nas eleições de 1988 e 2008, nas duas vezes saindo no início da disputa. Barack Obama selecionou Biden para ser o candidato Democrata à vice-presidência nas eleições de 2008. Biden é o primeiro católico e natural de Delaware a ser vice-presidente. No cargo, ele envolveu-se muito nas decisões realizadas por Obama e supervisionou o pacote de estímulo econômico de 2009 para conter a Grande Recessão. Sua habilidade para negociar com congressistas Republicanos foi importante na aceitação do Ato de Benefícios Fiscais, Reautorização do Seguro Desemprego e Crianção de Empregos de 2010 e no Ato de Controle Orçamentário de 2011.
