Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte foi um general do exército chileno, ditador do Chile após um golpe militar em 11 de setembro de 1973, pelo Decreto Lei Nº 806 editado pela junta militar , que foi estabelecida para governar o Chile após a deposição e suicídio de Salvador Allende, e posteriormente tornado senador vitalício de seu país, cargo que foi criado exclusivamente para ele, por ter sido um ex-governante.
Governou o Chile entre 1973 e 1990, depois de liderar o golpe militar que derrubou o governo democraticamente eleito do presidente Salvador Allende.
