Mikhail Sergueievitch Gorbachev ou Gorbachev GCL é um político e estadista russo, mais conhecido por ter sido o último líder da União Soviética, entre 1985 e 1991. Durante seu governo, as suas tentativas de reforma, tanto no campo político, representadas pelo projeto Glasnost, como no campo econômico, através da Perestroika, conduziram ao término da Guerra Fria e, ainda que não tivessem esse objetivo, deram fim ao poderio do Partido Comunista no país, levando à dissolução da União Soviética. É o último líder da União Soviética ainda vivo.

Entre as principais medidas tomadas por Gorbachev, estão a campanha contra o alcoolismo, a retirada das tropas soviéticas do Afeganistão após quase uma década de guerra, a anulação da condição da União Soviética como um Estado socialista e a conivência com as reformas políticas neoliberais nos países do Pacto de Varsóvia, a chamada Doutrina Sinatra, que culminou na queda do muro de Berlim, em 1989.
