James Warren "Jim" Jones foi o fundador e líder da seita Templo dos Povos, famoso devido ao suicídio/assassinato em massa em novembro de 1978 de 918 dos seus membros em Jonestown, Guiana, além do assassinato do congressista Leo Ryan e de quatro mortes adicionais em Georgetown, capital guianense. Quase 300 crianças foram assassinadas em Jonestown, quase todas por envenenamento por ingestão de cianeto. Jones morreu de um ferimento de bala na cabeça; suspeita-se que sua morte foi um suicídio.
