Hubert Horatio Humphrey, Jr. foi o 38º Vice-presidente dos Estados Unidos, durante o mandato do Presidente Lyndon B. Johnson, de 1965 a 1969. Humphrey representou o estado do Minnesota no Senado dos Estados Unidos da América duas vezes, de 1949 a 1964 e de 1971 a 1978. Foi também o candidato do Partido Democrata na eleição presidencial de 1968, perdendo para o candidato Republicano, Richard Nixon.

Nascido em Wallace. Dakota do Sul, Humphrey frequentou a Universidade do Minnesota antes de obter a sua licença de farmacêutico do Capitol College of Pharmacy em 1931. Ajudou a gerir a farmácia do seu pai até 1937 quando regressou à Universidade, obtendo um mestrado pela Universidade do Estado do Luisiana, em 1940, e onde foi professor de Ciência Política.
