Alexander "Alex" Elliot Anderson Salmond é um político escocês, que serviu como primeiro-ministro do seu país de 2007 até 2014 e líder do Partido Nacional de 2004 até 2014.

Em 16 de maio de 2007 foi nomeado Primeiro-ministro da Escócia , cargo equivalente a Primeiro-ministro no governo autônomo da Escócia. Sucedeu a John Swinney como National Convener do SNP, tendo desempenhado o cargo também entre 1990 e 2000.

Sob a sua liderança o SNP alcançou o maior número de lugares nas eleições de Maio de 2007 para o Parlamento da Escócia.
