„I am mystified. I know only one person who voted for Nixon.“

—  Pauline Kael American film critic 1919 - 2001
Attributed to Kael after the 1972 American Presidential election, which Nixon won easily. This misquote is presumably based on "I live in a rather special world." above, but there is no evidence that Kael was mystified or surprised by that election's outcome.

„You know, I look like a duck. I just do. And I'm not the only person who thinks that.“

—  Michelle Pfeiffer American actress 1958
Context: You know, I look like a duck. I just do. And I'm not the only person who thinks that. It's the way my mouth sort of curls up or my nose tilts up. I should have played Howard the Duck. People magazine (1990) http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20128142,00.html

„The only argument the world will listen to now is the argument of personal holiness. It has heard all the rest and rejected them.“

—  Fulton J. Sheen Catholic bishop and television presenter 1895 - 1979
Retreat to Priests, Washington, D.C., p. 19, quoted in Bernard Hayes, C.R., To Live as Jesus Did (Locust Valley, N.Y.: Living Flame Press, 1981), p. 108. There is no book by Sheen with the title Retreat to Priests. Hayes is presumably quoting from a transcription of Sheen's 1974 retreat for priests of the Washington diocese. This was recorded on reel-to-reel tape and later issued in nine 60-minute tapes under the title Renewal and Reconciliation.

„I’m the one who knows him best, and I was the only person in the White House who had absolutely no agenda of her own — except helping him.“

—  Nancy Reagan actress and first lady of the United States 1921 - 2016
Context: I was not the power behind the throne. Did I ever give Ronnie advice? You bet I did. I’m the one who knows him best, and I was the only person in the White House who had absolutely no agenda of her own — except helping him. And so I make no apologies for telling him what I thought. Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you have no right to express your opinions. For eight years I was sleeping with the president, and if that doesn’t give you special access, I don’t know what does! So yes, I gave Ronnie my best advice — whenever he asked for it, and sometimes when he didn’t. But that doesn’t mean he always took it. Ronald Reagan has a mind of his own.
